A phenomenon based on light’s vagueness
Francesca Banchelli & Alessandro De Francesco
Warm Waters is conceived by the artist as “a portrait of a young man, over his presence along different seaside locations of Italy, where he was born, and Brazil, where he grew up. The seaside environments crossed by the protagonist and other adventurers, are host of the borders between the earth and the sea, mixing the arrival and departure within a unique area of indecision, transforming the borderline into a stand-by status of the mind. Here, a narration is activated without the proper articulation of a story; instead it reveals reality in its detached and consequential aspect, where no definite connections between people occur, if not between events. The author invites the main character to take active part to this scenario, undertaking a spontaneous, as well as performative dialogue with the context. The lack of narration is partially brought up by the dialogue between two birds, deliberately inspired by two of José Saramago’s imaginary alter egos”.
Warm Waters was shot in Puglia (Italy), Rio De Janeiro (Brazil) and in Barra de Mamanguape, Paraiba (Brazil).
